RCTelemetry is used to process and display the telemetry data from Hitec RC Radio Control systems that are equipped with telemetry. A hardware interface that connects to the Hitec transceiver and re-transmits the telemetry data using a Bluetooth serial connection is required. The App itself consists of a service that is running in the background that receives and processes the telemetry data over a Bluetooth serial link. The user interface allows the user to see the data received and control how the service processes, stores and alerts the user about the data. All text-to-speech, logging and other functions takes place in the service so these actions can continue even when another app is brought to the foreground of your device. It should be noted that since the service is running all the time, your device will drain the battery faster than normal.
The continuous stream of telemetry data is displayed on your Android device. The display of the data is user configurable. All of the settings of the app can be saved as a "Profile" and recalled later. This includes the settings for the text-to-speech capability so that chosen values displayed on the screen can be read to the user on a periodic or on-demand basis. A single quick click on any part of the screen containing the displayed values will cause the on-demand speech to play once. The app also includes a flexible alarm system that allows the user to configure alarms for almost every parameter reported by the telemetry system.
